Excess Baggage - Maritime Security
U.S. Coast Guard National Maritime Center and MARAD Approve Seattle Maritime Academy & Captain Bradley Marine Consultants Maritime Security Training
Bill Zazzo, Director of the Seattle Maritime Academy, and Tom Bradley of Captain Bradley Marine Consultants announced that the U.S. Coast Guard National Maritime Center (NMC) and Maritime Administration (MARAD) have approved their Maritime Security Awareness (MSA), Vessel Security Officer VSO, Company Security Officer CSO, and Facility Security Officer FSO security training programs. The programs have also been certified by Det Norske Veritas (DNV).
"This new certification by important U.S. governmental authorities validates the comprehensive approach that has been undertaken by (SMA) and Capt Bradley Marine Consultants (CBMC) in the maritime security training arena" according to Bill Zazzo, Director of SMA.
The 4 hour Security Awareness Course and the 24 hour Security Officer Courses meet and exceed requirements of the Maritime Transportation Security Act of 2002, IMO International Ship and Port Facility Security Code (ISPS), relevant U.S. Coast Guard regulations, and the following IMO model courses:
*Maritime Security Awareness
* Ship Security Officer
* Company Security Officer
* Port Facility Security Officer
The SMA campus in Seattle, Washington is the primary training site but the courses are also available for off site training. As Tom Bradley, President of CBMC says, â??This ability to bring the courses to your location is a tremendous advantage; especially in Alaska where transportation costs to get required training can be significant.â??
